Together With Our Partners

Seniors utilizing accessible pathways near retirement housing options and independent living resources in Vernon, BC.

VSAN works because people and organizations show up. Seniors, caregivers, community groups, non-profits, health partners, local government, and seniors’ organizations all bring something important to the table.

When those voices come together, it is easier to see what is working, where support is missing, and what needs attention next.

Our partners help share information, support planning, reduce overlap, and build a stronger network around older adults in Vernon and the North Okanagan.

Why Partnership Matters

No single organization can meet every need for every senior, but every organization has a unique view to share.

One partner may see what is happening in health care. Another may understand housing, food access, transportation, social connection, or community planning. Seniors and caregivers bring the daily experience that makes the work real.

That mix of knowledge matters. It helps VSAN move beyond a single person’s concerns or a single organization’s view and look at the bigger picture.

Thank You to Our Partners

VSAN is grateful to the partners who give their time, knowledge, and care to this work. Their involvement helps make the community more connected, more responsive, and more age-friendly.

Different Partners, Shared Goals

VSAN’s partner network includes people and organizations with different roles, but a shared goal: helping the community become a better place to age.

Community Organizations

These partners often hear first-hand what is happening in daily life. They bring practical insight from their work in the community.

Networks and Collaboratives

These partners help connect VSAN’s work with other community efforts, so information is shared and groups are not working in isolation.

Health and Social Care

Health and social care partners understand care needs, wellness, aging, dementia, home support, and service navigation. They help connect lived experience with the systems that older adults rely on.

Community Champions

Some partners are seniors, caregivers, family members, volunteers, or people who simply care about aging well. Their voices keep the work grounded in real life.

Local Planning and Government

Local planning partners help make sure seniors’ needs are part of conversations about public spaces, transportation, housing, accessibility, communication, and age-friendly planning.

Why Partner With VSAN?

VSAN is not a funding body or a direct service provider, but a network that helps people work together. Partnering with VSAN gives people a place to listen, share, plan, and act alongside others who care about the well-being of older adults.

Through VSAN, partners have a place to:

  • Meet others working on seniors’ issues

  • Share what they are seeing in the community

  • Talk through gaps before they become bigger problems

  • Learn what other organizations are doing

  • Find ways to work together instead of working alone

  • Make sure seniors’ voices are part of the conversation

Collaboration in Action

Past collaborations have supported emergency preparedness for seniors, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, and the Age and Dementia-Friendly Community Plan.

These examples show what can happen when seniors, organizations, and community partners work around a shared concern.
